In Albania, the income mainly comes from agriculture and services. However, it is necessary for the country to secure an alternative income in order to improve their schooling system, health sector etc.
Albania is one of the smaller countries in Europe with a size of 28.748 km2 and a population of approx. three million. The country is blessed with an impressive and beautiful coastline of 362 km on the Adriatic coast, and therefore the government is now focusing on tourism as a future income for the country. The country has all the basic preconditions for succeeding. People are very open and friendly and it is a modern society, with a desire to develop their country.
Improved water infrastructure
It is important for Albania, as not being a member of EU, to find donations to improve the infrastructure. Kreditanstalt Für Wiederaufbau (KFW Development Bank) has decided to support a number of water projects especially on the coast line, so that Albania will be ready to receive tourists from all over Europe.
When these projects became known to the public, AVK got in contact with the company HIDRO MENTORI in Tirana. HIDRO MENTORI was appointed as the official distributor of AVK in Albania and Kosovo and through a close cooperation we have succeeded to deliver high quality products to the first project in the city of Lezha where most of the city’s water supply network will be replaced. This means a delivery of approx. 700 gate valves, 100 hydrants and a wide range of accessories for the streets of Lezha.
High quality drinking water system across Albania
Similar upgrading of the water systems has been prepared in the cities of Gjirokastra, Lushnja and Saranda. Gjirokastra is on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Towns and is inscribed as a rare example of an architectural character typical of the Ottoman period. Saranda is a coastal city located only 32 km from the Greek island Corfu and expected to attract many tourists.
AVK is proud to take part in building a high quality drinking water system in Albania.
